. Baron & Baroness Report
b. Treaty – Was brought up at last meeting so voting could occur during this
meeting. The language was read by the Seneschal, voting was held, and the motion
to add the treaty to the financial police was passed. The new language will be
added to the financial policy by the Exchequer, and will be updated on the Yahoo
group in the files section. The language that will be added is as follows:
"For Baronial Events, the Crown, Coronets and the Sitting Nobles of the Baronies
of Trimaris shall be allowed to attend the event gratis, including site fees,
cabin fees, and feast."
c. TMT – There will be a baronial pavilion on the lyst field, and Baroness
Melangell would like to have décor and refreshments. Please contact Her
Excellency Melangell to offer assistance with food, drink and/or decorating of
the pavilion space.
d. Arts/Sci – In 2012, the incoming kingdom Minister of Arts (Baroness Ceridwen)
has announced that there will be one kingsdom-level A/S competition, with the
other A/S annual event being a Collegium. Baronial A/S competitions are
encouraged. (Your Excellency, please correct me if I misstated anything here – I
was writing almost as fast as you talked.)
e. Awards – At St George's Faire, our very own Tristrum was presented with his
Award of Arms. Congratulations to Lord Tristrum.
i. Action Item for Next Meeting: Harass Lord Tristrum as this wasn't mentioned
until the end of this week's meeting, and no one had time to properly tease him.
. Officer Reports
a. Seneschal:
i. Reports – Have not seen any to date. Please copy the Seneschal when quarterly
reports are submitted.
ii. Deputies – There is currently only one Deputy Seneschal, and there should be
two. The current deputy is moving out of the immediate baronial borders and into
the canton. The Seneschal and her deputy are in discussion of how this affects
being deputy.
b. Chronicler:
i. WaterSpout – Is available at the meeting tonight! It will be added to the
website (www.marcaster.org). The next deadline is sometime in July.
ii. Website – Would like the officers to start adding content to the website.
The Seneschal suggested a few working sessions prior to the meetings to deliver
hands-on training on how to update the site. We have the meeting room beginning
at 5:30. The Chronicler starts his summer schedule later in May, so will be able
to provide that training starting in late May/early June.
c. Exchequer:
i. Bank Balance: $5,780.58
ii. Quarterly Report – Waiting on numbers from kingdom, then will have 20 days
to submit the quarterly report.
d. Herald:
i. Nothing to report.
e. Marshal:
i. Archery – Last Marcaster practice on May 15 from noon to 4. As the archery
marshal is moving to the canton, there is a need for additional marshals. Also,
Wyvernwoode is starting an archery practice – stay tuned for more info. Trimaris
Archery Day (TAD) II is being planned.
ii. Heavy – Practice every Saturday at Largo Central Park from noon to 4. Not
enough fighters were in attendance this past Saturday. There are no kingdom
events to cancel practice until TMT at the end of May.
f. Arts/Sci:
i. Officer Status – Gwen will be able to actually ride in a car on May 1!!
ii. A/S Nights at Dunedin Manor have resumed – currently the project is a
knitted Monmouth Cap, which we will jointly enter into an A/S competition.
iii. Reminder that Summer Art/Sci has been combined with Duke U.
g. Hospitaller:
i. Bentonshire Demo is this weekend! Please make an effort to attend. Contact
Cristiana regarding carpool opportunities.
ii. Post-BARF Revel – We are assisting Wyvernwoode with a Newcomer's Revel at
Lake Park on May 14 from 9 til dusk. Meat will be provided, but the remainder of
the food will be potluck. There will be fighting and archery, and there are
plans for an artisan's row (classes and/or demos welcomed!). There are possibly
other cantons and shires participating. For next year, the Seneschal recommends
that county or zip code is collected so that we can target the prospects with
information/emails from their home baronies.
1. Related: The Seneschal has asked the Kingdom Seneschal for a list of paid
members.
. Other/New Business
a. Upcoming Events:
i. Res Vestaria (Costuming) is planned for August 20 at the UU Church in St
Pete. Staff includes: Lord Hanko and Lord Bryan as co-autocrats. Lady Kale as
classcrat. Cristiana and Joanna (? – Canton hospitaller) as co-rescrats. Still
looking for a feast crat. Site fee is negotiable, and the Seneschal is working
with the property on a final number. Seneschal also suggests that the flyer be
created asap so as not to delay the entry into Talewinds. There will possibly be
a lunch fundraiser.
ii. Long Nights at the Caravan – There is a rumor that Lady Kale will be
submitting a bid for this event. Please contact her if you are interested in
helping to staff the event.
iii. Storage Unit – On Sunday, May 22, all hands are needed at the U-Store on
66th St. north of Bryan Dairy, to organize our stuff. We will be removing
everything from the bins, cleaning the bins, setting up new shelving,
photographing and listing what is in each bin, and putting it back on the new
shelves. Afterwards, the (yet to be named) Chamberlain will manage the inventory
and will have a key to the storage until in order to `check items out' to
requestors. Please bring portable tables and cleaning supplies.
iv. Nurse's Ball Gift Basket – the deadline was the meeting date, but Lady Kale
will continue to accept donations and will collect them. Please contact her
directly.
v. Barony Directory – The Seneschal would like to revive this project. Cristiana
has volunteered to manage the directory. The intent would be to have private and
public contact info made available on the website. Only certain information
would be displayed publicly, but the administrator(s) would be able to see the
private info.
vi. Baldric – Master Richard has added the Marcaster device to a baldric that
may have been awarded to either the defender or champion of the caravan. This
has been given to the Baron to determine what it should be used for, and to find
out what the Arabic enscribed on it means.
vii. Birthdays:
1. May 19 – Columella
2. May 22 – Hershel
3. Not a birthday, but congratulations are owed to Lady Hannah, who has received
